What is element resistance?
This page will give suggestions how to test element resistances of Creatures. For example, a Dragon is weak to Ice Damage, which means hits with the element Ice will deal more damage than with other elements. The resistances are presented as a percentage value. 100% resistance means neutral, a value higher than 100% means the creature is weak against the element, a value lower than 100% means the creature is strong against the element and a value of 0% means the creature is immune to given element.
How to test?
Tibia.com library
There are various ways to test resistances. First of all, in the tibia.com library about creatures, most non-boss creatures have recorded if they are strong or weak against a certain element. This gives a first indication what results can be expected when testing. Although boss creatures are not in the tibia.com library, they often mimic resistance behaviour from their weaker siblings.
What to test?
These are the elements which can be tested:
- Physical Damage
- Holy Damage
- Death Damage
- Fire Damage
- Energy Damage
- Ice Damage
- Earth Damage
- Drown Damage
- Life Drain
Using elemental fields
A good way to test fire, earth or energy damage resistance is using Fire, earth or energy fields. These fields deal a fixed amount of damage to creatures with a elemental resistance of 100%. If the damage they receive deviates from the expected damage, you (roughly) know their resistance.
Using wands or rods
This method is a bit more tricky and time consuming, because damage dealt by wands or rods is not fixed, but can vary within a fixed range. You will need to record enough (a few hundred) of shots and calculate the minimum, maximum and average damage dealt.
Summoning under water
The only feasible way to test creatures resistance against drown damage, is by summoning them while being under water. Of course, this is only possible for relatively weak creatures which can be summoned.
