Kesar Etzel was the founder of the Order of the Lion. He was a son of Cadwgan Etzel and Ansegild. He was a brother of Oberon and Scarlett Etzel, who founded the Order of the Falcon and the Order of the Cobra, respectively. Their three orders are known as The Ancient Orders of King Xenom. He was also a half-brother of Eldoran Etzel.

Unlike his siblings, which both succumbed to evil forces and now "live" beyond what their mortal lives would have been, Kesar is believed to have died. Nowadays, the Order of the Lion is ruled by his direct descendant, Kesar the Younger.
